searching board posts

I think it would be really great if there was a way to just type in what you are looking for and it searches the whole sight, or the boards or whatever and finds all the stuff pertaining to the thing you searched for. Like instead of trying to decide which board to look under for something and then going back about 20 pages to find it. Especially if you don't remember what it was called. I don't know how hard that would be, but it would be very cool to be able to do. Anyone else agree?

You bet I agree. Perhaps that would put an end to duplicate topics. It would also make it easier to find things that you saw once a year ago and now have to go digging through the archives to find.

Hmm... I bet if there was some kind of way to search the boards better then there would have been no need for this topic as this issue has been raised before and nothing was done about it. I agree it would be a cool feature to add, but highly doubt anything will ever be done about it. Guess only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.

Yep. this topic has been brought up before and I agree whole-heartedly with it. I'd especially wish to see posts by certain users. hehehehehe

Some quick fixes that are far from perfect:

site:zonebbs.com &LT;keyWords> will search the zone for occurrences of &LT;keyWords>. This could be used to find board topics, but there's nothing to stop you from getting user profile hits, either. LOL.

To view posts by a user, without entering a profile:
http://www.zonebbs.com/postsby.php?uid=xxxx
N.B. Substitute with your zone user ID...

The 'site:' paragraph pertains to searches performed within Google, BTW.
